Wailua River State Park Fees

Several stops along the Wailua Heritage Trail are within Wailua River State Park, managed by the State of Hawaiʻi Division of State Parks. Since February 2026, nonresident visitors pay an entrance fee and a parking fee at the park’s managed areas: Wailua Marina, Kaumualiʻi, ʻŌpaekaʻa Falls (including Poliʻahu Heiau), and Wailua Falls.

  • Entrance: $5 per person. Children 3 and under are free.
  • Parking: $10 per vehicle.
  • Hawaiʻi Residents: Free with a valid Hawaiʻi State ID or Driver’s License.

Fees are paid on site by credit card only. Your receipt works as a day pass, so you can visit the other Wailua River State Park sites the same day without paying again. Keep it handy as you explore.

The fees support the care of the park and its cultural sites. Please help protect these special places by staying on marked paths and treating the heiau and other sacred sites with respect.

Booked a tour? Some tour operators include the entrance fee in your ticket, so check your booking before you arrive.
